Description
Join us for an unforgettable journey through a labyrinth of wild canals and peaceful lakes. Starting from Tulcea, we navigate the Sireasa and Sontea canals, crossing lakes like Nebunu and Furtuna—prime locations for spotting pelicans, herons, and rare eagles.
Step Back in Time: Mila 23 & Letea Our first major stop is Mila 23, a traditional Lipovan fishing village famous for its authentic charm. From here, we head to Letea, the northernmost village in the Delta. The landscape changes dramatically as you opt for a 4x4 Jeep Safari into the Letea Forest, home to 500-year-old oaks and the famous wild horses. After the safari, enjoy an optional, traditional fisherman’s lunch at a local household.
Where the River Meets the Sea: The Danube Mouth The adventure continues towards Musura Bay and the Danube Mouth, the exact point where the river flows into the Black Sea. We will cruise past K-Island (Bird Island) and get up close to the Turgut S shipwreck. Keep your eyes on the horizon—if we are lucky, we might even spot dolphins playing near the shore where the fresh water meets the salt water.
History & Relaxation in Sulina
In the historic port of Sulina, we will make a 1-hour stop with a flexible itinerary depending on the weather. If the weather is nice and sunny, we will head straight to the beautiful Sulina Beach, the perfect spot for a swim in the Black Sea or a walk on the finest sand in the Delta. If the weather is unfavorable, we will adapt and spend our time exploring the town, where you can admire the Old and New Lighthouses and discover the local history.
The Golden Hour Return The return trip follows the Sulina Branch, passing through picturesque villages like Crisan and Maliuc. Watch the sunset over the water as we head back to Tulcea, concluding a day filled with wildlife, history, and stunning landscapes.
