Begam was an absolute delight! From the moment we walked in until we left, the entire experience was memorable. We tried a wide variety of dishes—dimsums, sushi, Thai curry, chicken platter, Dal Makhani, paneer, and dahi kebab—and every single dish was spot on. The food was flavourful, beautifully presented, and clearly prepared with great attention to detail. The prices were also quite reasonable considering the quality and ambience. The highlight of the evening, however, was the live music. The entire band and the singer were incredibly talented and did a wonderful job engaging with the audience throughout the performance. What made the night even more special was that as we were leaving, the singer stopped us and sang "Pardesi Pardesi Jana Nahi" for us. It was such a thoughtful and heartwarming gesture that made us leave with big smiles. Great food, amazing music, warm hospitality, and a fantastic atmosphere- Begam is definitely a place I'll be visiting again. Highly recommended!

Begam offers an electric rooftop Sufi night that perfectly balances vibrant live music with a moody vibe. While the dimly lit and loud ambiance makes conversation a challenge, the prompt service and delicious food - especially the standout Pesto Pasta - make it a highly enjoyable experience. My partner and I visited for their Sufi night. We did not book in advance, and walk-ins were easily accommodated. The singers were on fire, and the rooftop was decently crowded with many couples. Be aware that the music is on the louder side, making it difficult to hear each other. If you are looking to have a conversation, avoid the rooftop during live music or ask the staff to seat you in the quieter indoor section. A few logistical notes: We couldn't locate dedicated parking and parked safely on the main road. The rooftop is accessible via a convenient lift. Once seated, be prepared for a very dimly lit environment—it sets the mood, but it made reading the menu difficult. The food menu is somewhat limited with slightly confusing dish names, and while the drinks menu is extensive, a few options we initially ordered were unavailable. We eventually opted for an LIIT and a Cosmopolitan, which were decent with standard presentation. Despite the weekend crowd, the service was prompt. Our drinks arrived within 10 minutes, and the food was served in about 10-15 minutes. The food quality was great with comfortable portions for two. The Pesto Pasta was genuinely delicious and the highlight of the meal. I also ordered the Butter Chicken with Indian breads; since my partner is vegetarian, I had it all to myself. It was creamy, perfectly portioned, and very satisfying. Expect a bill of around ₹3,000 for two people, which feels appropriately priced for the overall experience. Pro-tip: If you want to appreciate the visual layout and decor of the restaurant, visit in the afternoon. If you are there for the music and an electric vibe, late evenings are the way to go.

Begum is a great spot if you want to try authentic Turkish cuisine in Delhi. It’s located in GK on a busy two-lane road, but valet parking makes things convenient. The restaurant has a cozy indoor seating area along with outdoor tables, and they host live music and performances almost every day. We ordered the Chicken Adana Kebab, Fish Tikka, Dal Makhani, and naan. The highlight of the meal was definitely the Chicken Adana Kebab. It’s served as a platter with assorted pickles, jalapeños, sauces, and salad, and it tasted excellent. The flavors were subtle and well-balanced, quite different from the usual Mughlai or Indian tandoori dishes, which was refreshing. The Fish Tikka was good and up to the mark. For me personally, the Dal Makhani was a miss as it was on the sweeter side, which I don’t prefer. However, my mother enjoyed it, so it really depends on your taste palate. Apart from the food, the live band setup looked promising, although we arrived around 9 PM when they were still doing a mic test, so we couldn’t fully experience the performance. Overall, a good place for a relaxed evening with good food and a lively ambience.

Begam does offer a few conveniences that initially work in its favor. Valet parking is available, which is a relief given the severe parking crunch on one of Defence Colony’s busiest roads. The restaurant also has both rooftop and indoor seating options, giving guests a choice of ambience. However, the overall experience was disappointing. I visited after being impressed by the pictures on Zomato, but the reality fell far short. The restaurant is in dire need of maintenance. Wooden tabletops are chipped and coming apart, sofa upholstery is torn and visibly dirty, and the furniture overall feels worn out. Unfortunately, the ambience resembled that of a moderately upper-class dhaba in Chandni Chowk rather than a restaurant in Defence Colony. As for the food, the experience was mixed. The main course was particularly underwhelming— the butter chicken was excessively salty, and the breads were poorly made, lacking softness and proper cooking. On a positive note, the starters were quite good. Dahi kebabs, chilli chicken, dimsums, the mezze platter, and pasta stood out and were well prepared. The pizza, however, was just average. Considering its location, Begam does not meet Defence Colony’s dining standards. The menu is priced on the higher side, but neither the service nor the ambience justifies the cost. Overall, the restaurant has potential, but significant improvements in maintenance, food consistency, and value for money are needed.
